Ways To Deal With Insomnia- Goodnight Sleep

People needs to sleep at least 8 hours a day. We all knew that sleeping help us in many ways. When we get enough sleep, we feel better, we work better, etc. Especially for students, if they don't get enough sleeping, they would not probably do well in school.

The facts are:
  •  Most people get less than 8 hours sleeping a day.
  • We may get risk of heart attack,, cancers, shortened life.
  • After 17 to 19 hours of no sleeping, our brains works similar to someone who drinks or have a blood alcohol level at 0.05.
  • About 65% will have problem sleeping!
All this information are from the book "Sleep for Success! Everything You Must Know About Sleep But Too Tired to Ask". This book was written by James Maas and Rebecca Robbins.

There are variety of factors that causes you to lose sleep. Example: Stress from work, financial problems, working too hard, addicted to games, etc. Most of the factors might came from your stress. For teenagers, some of them are addicted to internet or some others which causes them lose sleep. The fact about most teenagers is the time they're most active is in midnight.

These are some guides to deal with Insomnia:
  • Go to bed and wake up the same time everyday- This may helps your body to get used with it.
  • Make up for lose sleep as soon as possible- If you have to sleep late, you can make up it by sleeping longer.
  • Avoid caffeine after 2:00 pm- 6 hours after your last sip of caffeine, the half of caffeine you take in is still in your body.
  • Avoid alcohol 3 hours before go to bed-  Alcohol causes you to wake up every 90 minutes. You'll be continually shaken through your night.
  • Exercise between 5:00-7:00 pm- This may helps your body temperature to get hotter and it needs to be dropping.
  • Keep your bedroom cool- A bedroom that is too hot can causes nightmares.
  • Turn off the light- Lights can wake you up
  • Turn off all electronic devices- This may help prevent you from being wake up cause of your devices sounds or light.
  • Read books (not about working)- Read books for about 30 minutes before bedtime can help your body to feel relax.
  • Protect your privacy- Keep your children or pets outside your bedroom to prevent them from disturbing.

Sketch Up In ICT

We used sketch up program to create our own restaurant design. We use many techniques to create. Example: move tool (m), push tool (p), rotate(m+arrow on the red dot), etc. This is what we have done. This is the one that we follow Mr. Pete design but later we're going to make our own. You can see that we finished a lot. We have a cashier, dining room, windows, doors, toilets, kitchen, but some are not yet done. We use every measurement in realistic. We try to use real measurements.

Wall Painting In Art Class

We did a very basic stuff in art class but it is not easy. We did a wall painting. Actually it is not for our class but the grade 12 need our help. This is what we did. We used house painting colors to paint. We did it in two days and this is what we got. The painting is not done yet but we did most of the part. Our teacher said the technique is to color it in the same direction which is from top to bottom so that the color would be smooth. I'll keep updating the work, We'll continue on this tuesday.

Is This The New iPad?

CNET did proclaimed about how the iPad 3 would look like. Some rumors turns out to be true but some didn't.

Apple announced a new iPad on March 7, 2012. Apple remains the same concept, its just an upgrade version of an iPad. Not much differents from the previous ones. They might not name it as an iPad 3 but "iPad HD". This is because there was rumors that the next iPad would feature a display with more pixels than previous models. But in fact, the new iPad would come with lower quality display than in iPhone4/4s. Apple argued that people are holding it 15-inches away from their face, but 10-inches for smaller devices like iPhone and iPod.

Now it's about the feature that Apple has never release new models which doesn't improve this feature. Better camera! Apple said that they might improve new camera by having 2 cameras on the new iPad like the iPad 2 but improve the front camera as an high-definition camera to work with facetime. The ones on the back would be improve too but still similar as on the iPhone. Slightly the new iPad would come with a larger camera hole.  New iPad comes with 5 mega pixels camera. They would lower the price of the new iPad around $299. Apple will still keep the iPad 2 model when the new models are released but they would keep only the 16gb model.

There are rumors about the new design of dock port but this is not true. Apple remains the same dock port. Which I think it is good because you may use it with the previous model of Apple including iPhone, iPad, iPod.

I confirm there would be some upgrades in features but don't wish to see much differents in it. Apple is still remaining to use the same concept. Not much change, not much new interesting features.

KONY 2012

I bet not much people will not know what is KONY. Kony comes from the name Joseph Kony. He lives in Uganda and this happens in Uganda. He was the one who kidnapped children and forces them to use guns and kill their own parents. He forces them to mutilate people faces. He turns girls into sex slaves. Over 30000 children are kidnapped. Some of them are being killed. He was doing this continuously for 26 years. Joseph Kony has a huge army, he didn't have any supporter. He's not fighting for any cause but just wanted to maintain his power. There's a guy that made a video about this, he shared it on youtube. This is Joseph Kony. How can we stop him? The problem is not the whole world knows who he is. He already transport to other places. We cannot stop him if we don't know where is he. I cannot explain much about what are we doing in 2012, you need to watch the video below and understand it.

Experiment On Bacteria And Fungi

We did an experiment in biology class. Our target is to grow bacteria and fungi in the plates we provided. We use agar, glucose, and water to mix and pour it into the plates. We leave it for 2 days by letting the plates open so that the bacteria can be able to get inside. After two days, we can see bacteria and fungi growing on the plates. There are many types of it. We observe it by using the microscope and make table for it. We use what is called wire loob to stick into the agar and push the bacteria out of the agar. This experiment is dangerous because we need to turn on the flame for cleaning wire loob.

What We Learned In ICT

We are now learning on sketch up. This program is for us to sketch houses, buildings, and etc. We did a sketch up for our restaurant but it is not done yet. This program needs to use math all the time. You need to calculate sizes. Mr. Pete show us sizes that he designed and we have to do it the same way. This is the sketch up we've done.

You can see that we are not done yet. We are starting to create windows. Hope you enjoy.

Where Does Languages Live? (Infographic)

We were finding out about where does languages live in the brain for centuries. I bet you are interested to know how does brain function to know languages. Languages live in the centers of the brain. That center of the brain has the function to deal with language comprehension. The infographic below shows how each part of the brain function.

Broca's area: This part is believed to work together with Motor Cortex, which is believed that it is functioned to process lexical and phonology. For patients who cannot speak but still can understand may have their brain damage on this part.

Wernicke's area: This part is for processing speech sounds. Patients who suffer speech comprehension may have lesions on this part.

Motor Cortex: It controls the mouth and lips for producing physical production of speech.

Auditory Cortex: Receives signals from the inner part of the ear and transmits temporal of reference for the data that it receives.

How do we first learned languages?
- According to this question, Noam Chomsky believed that we were born with a devices that gives us the ability to learn and understand languages and it is called Language Acquisition Device (LAD). But some researchers such as Skinner argue that we were born with blank slate but we learned languages by hearing others repeating the sounds. This is the differences of two factors which is biological factor and environmental factor but although, both of the factors said that most of humans first learn languages at the age of 5.

I learned that our brains are seperated in many parts so that each part can do their job. This is a good thing because if our brain are damage, it doesn't affects the whole thing. I believe in biological factor more than the environmental factor because if we didn't have the function to deal with languages, no humans would be able to communicate. In environmental factor said that we learn from sound repeating which means that people we heard it from may have the function that can deal with languages. And I enjoy reading from infographic more than paragraphs because infographic is quite simple. It was summarize and put with pictures that can help us a lot in understanding better. You can look at more information on the infographic below, it was written very simple and clear. I hope this article is helpful for you, enjoy.
